About StudentLoanCanAfford

Free, private, plain-language student loan calculators for American borrowers.

Why this site exists

Student debt is one of the largest financial burdens most people ever carry — and the rules changed in 2026. The SAVE plan is gone, the new Repayment Assistance Plan (RAP) started July 1, 2026, and what you pay now depends on when you borrowed. Servicers send statements; they rarely explain the trade-offs.

StudentLoanCanAfford exists to close that gap. Each calculator answers one concrete question borrowers actually ask — "what is my monthly payment?", "is RAP or IBR cheaper for me?", "which debt do I pay off first?", "can I afford the car payment and the student loan together?" — and each one ships with a short guide written in plain language, not servicer jargon.

How we stay free

This site is supported by advertising. That's the whole business model: the calculators are free, unlimited, and require no account, and there is no "pro" tier hiding your results. Keeping the tools client-side (everything runs in your browser) also keeps our costs low, which keeps the site free.

What we're not

We are not lenders, brokers, or financial advisors. Every number on this site is an estimate based on standard loan math and the federal repayment rules in effect in 2026. Loan programs, rates, and rules change — for anything that affects real money, please check with your loan servicer or a qualified financial professional. See our Terms of Service for the full picture.

Privacy, briefly

We don't have user accounts and we don't want your data. Calculations run entirely in your browser; nothing you type into a calculator is sent to us. Read the full Privacy Policy for details.
